Built from Years of Lived Experience
Mountain Recovery Homes was born from firsthand experience with addiction and recovery.
For years, my drinking and drugging took me through repeated hospital stays, detoxes and treatment centers. Eventually, I reached a place of complete hopelessness. I truly believed there was no chance of recovery for me. I had accepted that this was simply how my story was going to end, and I was prepared to go on to the bitter end.
Eventually, desperation gave me something I hadn't had before—willingness. I became willing to go to any length to recover.
Treatment helped give me another opportunity, but transitioning into this type of sober living became a pivotal point in finding freedom in my recovery.
Living alongside other men in recovery taught me things I couldn't learn alone. I experienced accountability, fellowship, sponsorship, the Twelve Steps and the power of one man helping another. I wasn't simply learning how not to drink or use drugs. I was learning how to live again.
That experience changed my life—and it is at the heart of why Mountain Recovery Homes exists.
We want to give other men the opportunity that was given to me: a safe home, structure, brotherhood, accountability, the Twelve Steps and a community of people who understand.
Some of the men who come through our doors may arrive believing what I once believed—that there is no hope left for them. We want them to have the opportunity to discover otherwise.
